About Us

Our agency was founded in 1988 to serve at risk-families in Chicago.

Over the past 20 years, the target service areas have expanded its reach across the City of Chicago and surrounding suburban neighborhoods including Hyde Park, South Shore, Austin, Pullman, Gresham, Roseland, Riverdale, Hazel Crest, Country Club Hills and Markham. Kirby Rehabilitation currently provides DUI Services, Substance use Services at 4 levels of care, Toxicology screenings, Violence Perpetrator Services, Domestic Violence Services, Anger Management and Parent Education Classes.

The U.S. Bureau of the Census estimates that there are 44 million people of African origin living in the country, comprising only 13.4% of the total population.  Yet, African Americans are overrepresented among drug users in the United States; however, they are also more likely to seek treatment for their drug use.  Our client income ranges from 0 to $65k and ranging in age from 14years to 65 years old. The geographic location covers the City of Chicago and Cook County.  The average level of education ranges from middle school to some college. The ethnic groups overwhelmingly are African American, followed by Latina and Caucasian. The genders are male, female, and non-binary.  On average, the marital status of our clients is primarily single with married couples following closely behind.

At Kirby Rehabilitation, our immediate concern is to keep our clients and staff safe from the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19). 

We take all the appropriate measures to ensure the health and safety of clients and employees concerning COVID-19, our entire staff has been thoroughly educated on the signs and symptoms of the virus to ensure proper procedure and monitoring.

Signs & symptoms of COVID-19 include:

  • Shortness of breath
  • Fever
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Cough

It is important to note, that symptoms of COVID-19 are not always noticeable, and therefore, the only way people will know if they have the virus is to be tested. To stop the virus from spreading further, Kirby Rehabilitation strictly follows the guidelines set by the Department of Health and Centers for Disease Control (CDC). 

We report any known incidences of coronavirus or anyone thought to be infected at our facilities to the local health department and other necessary medical personnel to ensure the safety of our other clients and employees.
